FIT (Follicular Unit Extraction) or FUE is a more modern method of harvesting and transplanting hair. This method is based on punch-graft extraction of hair, by which the grafts of hair (containing 1 to 4 hairs) are harvested and transplanted. In this method, there is no need to surgical blade, incision, inserting or removing stitches. Instead, only small holes are made in the donor site in the dorsal scalp. The slits will be cured automatically, and only very small white point will be remained and hidden under the hair of the patient.
FIT method is an interesting progress in hair transplantation science, and it has changed hair transplantation to a surgical operation with least side effects and complications. As no scar will be remained after surgery, both surgeon and patient are fully satisfied with this method. In this method, the recovery period has become shorter and more convenient. However, it must be noted that FIT method is not a complete one, and thus it required high skills in surgery and there are several constraints in harvesting hairs and recipient site of transplantation. The most important issue is that FIT method is never suitable for quite bald persons with limited hair bank. This method is only effective in partially bald persons with rich hair bank.
