PRP, also known as “Vampire” or “True Blood” Skin Rejuvenation is the most sought after anti-aging treatment today as it is 100% natural for it uses one’s own blood cells. The blood plasma is enriched with platelets that play a major role in the repair of the blood vessels and cells in the body. It also has several growth factors and stem cells that are essential in the regeneration of new tissue.

Long before PRP paved its way to medical aesthetics such as healing of wound, dermatology and facial rejuvenation and restoration of hair; it has been widely used for dentistry, orthopedic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

Here is a list of areas that can be treated with PRP.

  • Cheeks and mid-face
  • Jaw line and surrounding area under the jaw
  • Around the eyes
  • Acne scars
  • Areas with loss of hair

The plasma is obtained by drawing the blood of the patient into specialized test tubes that are centrifuged straightway. As the centrifuge spins, it separates the red blood cells from the Plasma and Platelet Rich Plasma is produced. The golden yellow serum, PRP, is transferred in the syringe and then injected into the fat layer or deep dermis of the skin via small needles. The different proteins in PRP progressively increase the formation of collagen and connective tissue, tightening of skin and the overall skin rejuvenation.

Each treatment is normally completed in 45 – 90 minutes; it varies on the area being treated. The course of treatment includes 3 – 4 treatments with 4 – 6 weeks interval. Some factors such as age, health, and condition of the skin, and genetics may vary the result.

Noticeable improvement of the skin tone and texture will occur in 3 weeks while the collagen regeneration needs around 3 months to complete.

The tissue that has been regenerated and remodeled is permanent but aging is unstoppable thus the problem areas will reappear eventually. Hence, touch up sessions is needed.
